What mining software did you use to CPU mine?

I used cpuminer-neoscrypt on Intel Core2 Duo running Debian 9.1. My power consumption was running around 130W, making it awfully inefficient, even if I could muster 1 FTC per day as @looarn mentioned.

My understanding is that by the nature of p2pool’s PPLNS payout scheme, 6 kH/s is well below the noise level at current difficulty, thus yielding zilch shares.

I’ve switched to GPU mining since then, getting ~500 kH/s with much better results - ~16 coins per day. Still, it’s not profitable at the current price level due to high electricity cost in my area.

i am very much in the same boat, except your card is doing much better than mine! dual xeons and a 780 make for a high electric bill, but guess its better than folding for free! new rig will do better i hope :)

      Many thanks :)

You also helped the community by bringing up the problem and verifying that the problem is fixed in the last p2pool code, so it’s on me to thank you.

I run multiple daemons on a single machine but thinking about this on a much larger scale, Bittrex has tons of coins and needs a daemon for each so they probably run multiple systems, if not separate servers for each daemon for better security. It could be something like the server crashed or had an issue, not necessarily the daemon itself.

@wrapper That’s very nice of you. If you send me an email address, I’ll invite you to share a box folder where you can upload bootstrap.dat! I’ll make a torrent of it and share it with others here. In my experience with other qt wallets it cuts time to 1/2 to 1/3. Still a long time but significantly shorter.

You can use a temporary email like mailinator.com or one of their alternate domains like bobmail.info, which goes down better.

@reko91 said in How much progress is being made on this technology ?:

@AcidD I was just looking here : https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin on the master branch. Last commit seemed to be 25 days ago. I was just wondering if this is worth investing in to

Feathercoin is currently being developed by forum staff and members. FTC has a number of previous developers who have assisted, if available. Some of which have indicated they would assist in some future projects.

You can see what work is ongoing here : https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits/0.11.2

You still might not be satisfied, as we may not release 0.11.2 and we are only currently adding in FTC specific and additional codes and functions. We have a number of difficult areas to work on (negating further help), Openssl being removed, retaining the alert system and integrating ACP being the most urgent.

Also, we have just spent about a year working on refining and testing, and have just released Feathercoin version 0.9.6.1. In order to keep stability and not make users, miners and pools upgrade, it is not envisioned to make another release for 6 months.

@AcidD Thanks for that response. Took about 3 days but the mobile wallet looks like it’s good now.

I don’t know where that Exodus wallet came from? I downloaded from the site again, and now I have the Feathercoin wallet on my desktop and it’s synching. Currently telling me it’s 3 years and 2 weeks behind.

As long as I have your attention, can you direct me or tell me some places where Feathercoin is used or “accepted”. I have some ideas in mind to get it out there, if the community is interested?

Thanks again for all your help.
