What is the work that needs to be done?

How much hashing power do we need to make this viable? And would it take to get us there? I see a lot of posts on all the different graphics cards but has anyone worked out the most efficient bang for buck components?

How many miners and at what hashrate do we need to get it up to the USP of the coin, namely digital currency without the weight?

What we need is more difficulty adjusts under our belt. There are 75 blocks to go till the next retarget. We got mined up to a very high difficulty by the initial miners and have opted to go for a slow recovery to avoid being mined into that position again. Once we get back on target the miners would not be able to push us to such a high difficulty again before becoming unprofitable again as the adjusts are smaller.

The next difficulty adjust will see the block become 41.4% easier to mine so miners will get that many more coins and the network will go that much faster. With these two we will be able to attract additional miners.

I want to start offering FTC for multi currencies, have started asking for favours from my network. However when I realised that the confirmations were 3 days I realised I needed to look at this problem. Are there any measurables you can tell me? What hashrate over all? How many miners at what hash rate do we need?

Thanks

i would like to postulate that we are actually better getting to the next target without temporary help
i may be wrong, but now that we are doing retargets each 504 blocks, if we can establish a base line of more permanent miners (vs those attracted by one time bounties) then the retarget logic that bushstar put in place will be able , over a few cycles, to get things back on track where we are making clear progress without the need for temporary miners/bounties

at that point we’ll be able to attract new long term miners , again vs the fly by night coin hoppers that can actually cause problems with quick hash rate changes

I agree, while the bounties helped us get to block 33,000 and this was a good thing, we don’t want to become dependent on them, a slower but natural progression is better if you ask me. We’ll get there, only 71 blocks to go.

You should check out the new layout and jump on ftc.d2.cc

If your a heavy hasher we could use another! almost half the speed of vern’s pool right now :/

52 blocks left. Maybe a small push will bring it within 2 days.

It depends entirely on how many block average is used for the adjustment. I don’t recall reading or know if it was posted but seeing as they have current network hashrate on the stats page showing previous 60 blocks, I would tend to err on the side of caution.

If the 60 block average is used to calculate retarget, then the last 52 getting a significant boost could destroy our 41.4% difficulty drop but perhaps they are using previous 504 block average. If anyone knows which, I’d be interested to know.

It is only the stats page that uses the 60 block average. Retarget is calculated from the previous 504 blocks.

I’m not really a heavy hasher. Just have 1 7950 doing around 500-550 KH/s all day. I’ll check that pool out though. :)
