I didn’t know Scan accepted Bitcoin? That’s excellent, buying computer gear with BTC seems like a strong link.

I’ve also dropped them a message saying thanks for supporting BTC and asked if they would also consider Feathercoins.

          This is cool :)

I see they have chosen BitPay as there payment process, which may limit their adoption of FTC as an alternative.
I just wanted to contact you back and say thank you for your really nice feedback! We’ve been very happy to receive lots of positive customer comments recently and we hope it’s a reflection of all our investments and efforts to push our standard of service forward even more. Also I must say that it is the nice feedback which makes our jobs at Scan an absolute pleasure! We are unsure currently if we are going to be offering any other currency in the future, but watch this space.
Is there a FTC equivalent to BitPay?

It depends what the merchant is after, BitPay gives the option to dump the FIAT out on a daily bases, everything I have seen that gives an option for FTC only pumps out FTC as the transactions are made, without the option for FIAT.

I was thinking about this the other day, as for the smaller retailers this could cause a cash flow problem

coinpayments.net -> Cryptsy (set auto sell FTC to BTC) -> auto transfer BTC coinbase/bitstamp -> bank account

Interesting. How much would you lose in fees during that lot?

For UK merchants I think bitstamp is 2-3 days for a withdrawal - if selling lots of high value goods this could still cause cashflow problems I guess.

I did consider doing ftc -> coinpayments.net -> cryptsy -> bitcoin wallet then “buy” from myself with bitpay and cash out. A lot of hassle though :-[

                        Coinpayments: 0.50% + 0.01000000
                        Cryptsy: 0.30%
                        Coinbase: 1%

So still less than, say, accepting a credit card through square.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is what matters, because if you can envision a path there, you can code it, automate it, and reap the reward. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneur waiting to be jumped on.
