Hi Everyone,
Glad to meet you guys. I’m new to the world of feathercoin (or any cryptocurrencies), but I was really intrigued by the concept when I found out about it. I have been mining feathercoin for the past couple of weeks and it has been going great. Today I received this error though (when my wallet tried to sync):

Incorrect or no genesis block found. Wrong datadir for network?

I haven’t changed anything as far as I know, but after uninstalling and restarting the program (also restarting the computer) I am still getting the same problem. I had to follow a guide to start mining and to set everything up so I’m not equipped to deal with any technical issues. I know this probably belongs in the technical support area, but I did want to abide by the “noobs start here” rule ;).

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would help a ton. Thanks so mcuh

Hello mindcandyman,

first of all welcome to the forum here. :)

The error message you get points to a problem with your database or with your connection to the network.

Please re-post your problem to the technical support area, so the right people beccome aware of it.

Also include some additional data as:

• version of the feathercoin wallet.
• what operating system you are on

An important thing to so is to backup the wallet and export your private keys to have a good backup before you do any other steps. Otherwise you may loose the coins contained in your wallet.

Thanks so much I’m glad to be here. Thanks so much for the help and the extra information. I am self employed and I want to work out the kinks so I can accept feathercoin as payment. Thankfully I did save a backup, but I’m not sure I exported my keys. I would lose about 25 coins in total so it wouldn’t be horrible to get it back again. I’ll post it up in the support thread and see if I can get it fixed. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the community great to have you here.

What is your business? We have a (ebay style) feathercoin market http://feathercoinmarket.com where you can sell goods and services for Feathercoins which is sometimes a good way to start off.

My situation is a little bit strange actually. I’m a classically trained artist and, through demand, people all over the world want to learn the same techniques. So I started a website teaching individuals what I learned.

http://www.classicalartonline.com

I have people paying to study with me, via paypal, from all over the world (India, Hungary, France, etc…). So if I could offer them like this it would make the transfer process a million times easier as well as eliminating the fees I get with paypal too. Seems like a win win. I think I will start with the marketplace first though as you said and just get used to things. I certainly don’t want to have a wallet full of feathercoins go poof because I do something dumb haha.
