The pools which change automatically to the most profitable pools recently changed to FTC (of what I heard). With the rise of value and the ease of mining it actually is a decent (or even good) coin to mine right now.

Technical “pure profit”, the sort that you pay tax on, would only start after the you’ve made back the amount in fiat for the cost of the rig.

By that mean you would have to sell the amount of ftc for the worth of your rig to get that investment back into fiat.

The only reason I say this is you could get your ROI back in months and never have made any sort of loss or the coin could fail and become abandoned and you won’t see a ROI unless you find a new coin to mine that stays alive.

One could use a solar power, wind power etc system for free power, but the added cost would add more time to ROI. It also would need to take into consideration maintenance cost’s for the whole system.

The current generation of renewable energy systems available and viable to individuals and normal business’s, is incredibly inefficient and has maintenance costs that far outweigh the price of coal power plant provided electricity (in most countries).

Put your rigs in Germany, electricity is dead cheap overthere because of the surplus they have with all these solar panels.

Thats 2011, things have changed drastically since then in Germany.
Prices in september 2013 were €40 per MWh, so thats €0,04/kWh…
and yesterday it was €23/MWh… so €0,023/kWh…

LESS THAN .03 euro per kWh!!!

I want some of that electricity! My current rip off provider over here is around £ 0.21/kWh… going to spend some time today working on that as I know they are not the cheapest.

                        Hi and welcome to Feathercoin.

This discusion would have been more useful in the correct section. Can you ask it again in Feathercoin discusion?
