      Hey Guys

Pretty new to this all but rather keen on becoming part of the community.

Having some trouble with getting my mining going and was just wondering whether anyone may have some suggestions?..

I have a new Gigabyte R9 290 OC edition card, Running Windows 7 with CG miner 3.7.2 but

am failing at getting the mining started.

After installing catalyst drivers and then starting up CG Miner, computer still continues to give me a BSOD

or just a black blank screen, I have tried catalyst versions 13.11b, 13.25 and 14.2b all ending the same way, mines for about a minute or two and then…BOOM!!!

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

      Kindest Regards

      Himal

www.cgminer-config.com. This website has configurations for all cards and one click download for configs. Give it a shot.

Thank you for the reply, however I do not think that the problem relates to cg miner only but lies more with the drivers itself but I will most certainly check out the site for optimal configurations:)

Without even running the cg miner, the black screen still randomly appears after the system runs for a few minutes…

Has anyone experienced this with the R9 290 cards?

I can only think of maybe doing a BIOS flash?

                        I’m going to make a guess here…

The spec sheet on the Gigabyte website says

Power requirement600W(with one 6-pin and one 8-pin external power connectors)

So I guessing what is happening, is that as your card kicks it up a gear to get on with mining that the power draw on that PSU is just a little too much and its shutting down, the black screen your seeing is the machine turning off as the power supply cuts out.

                          Thanks for the feedback.

The machine however, still runs without any display, if I had to log onto the pool site the mining is still active

at a highly reduced speed of around 20-40 kh/s.

Also shouldn’t the intensity setting being 13/31 not require that much power?

Humm, going to struggle here as I can’t see whats going on… I hate it when I’m blind.

Do you have a spare USB key, you can put a copy of BAMT on?

I have very similar problems with my R9 290 in the end I couldn’t get it to work well with less than 4GB of RAM and I also had to upgrade the PSU sounds like one or both of these is your issue.

                                  Hi Ryan

Thanks for this, wouldn’t hurt to throw some ram at it and see how it goes, the current PSU should be sufficient.

@Uncle_Muddy…If Ram doesn’t do the trick ill try and make an effort to get you a clear picture.

                                  Thanks a lot guys

If you chucking more RAM at it you’ll need 64-bit windoz, as 32-bit can’t address more than 3GB

                                      Hi Guys

Yet another frustrating weekend goes by…

Upgraded to the 64bit Windows to allow the flinging of some extra ram, installed driver only without catalyst(13.11b, most stable)

which got the computer running, then started up CG Miner and had the Task Manager running to assess memory consumption.

Ram did not hit the 1GB mark, so I do not believe that Ram will sort this problem out.

CG Miner did not allow an intensity above 13 and a maximum hash rate of 604 kh/s was achieved, system still however

could not be stable for more than 40 minutes and then back to driver crashes and BSODs.

Current BIOS version is F3L so there isn’t any further flash either.

I definitely believe its a driver issue as nothing else seems to make any sense, I believe that the beta drivers released a few versions

13.11, 14.1 and 14.2 variations, thinking of just getting every one and doing driver sweeps and installation, just don’t feel too hopefull about it

                                      working out.

Any further suggestions will be highly appreciated, im going crazy trying to get this going…

                                      Many Thanks

                                      Himal
