I run a p2pool node in my sig and also wrote a tut to set your own up.

We can always use a few more miners.

is there any way to see, like on a single web page, ALL of the p2pool nodes for a given coin? in this case, FTC
            i found this page “peers”
            http://p2pool.dyndns.info:19327/static/peers.html

which lists ten sets of Host:Port , are those the other nodes? all the other nodes?

i would like to use p2pool for FTC, but it seems to me without a certain mimimum # of active nodes, with a certain minimum hash# , the variance of payouts will be extreme

i other words if the hash# is disproportionate between p2pool and the other traditional pools, say 90%-10% or 95%-5%, then the chance of all the p2pool miners to find a block is low, so we won’t get a payout very often, even if it is larger when we do find a block

but then i guess that would be true of participating in any small pool :-\

so maybe that is also what i am looking for, is there a place that shows the distribution of hash# between all the active pools?

            thank you

              That’s a great question!

I’ve seen such charts for BTC pools, but I don’t think I’ve seen the same thing for FTC. Anyone interested in building such a thing?

                There is this http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=329.0
                But it doesn’t seem maintained.

P2pool connects to other nodes to send shares and verify shares.

The more people who mine or start a node the bigger p2pool grows. It’s solo mining together so if we have 6000KH we get a good chance to keep seeing a block every 18 hours afaik. A miner on my node just got 62 FTC on the block an hour or so ago, nice amount if we get a block a day as his 1MH is expected to get around 42FTC a day.

Best bet is to mine and record your own results of where you mine.

This explains p2pool much better than I can without spending too much time on it. http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/3626/what-is-the-p2pool

I have a lot of other sources I’ve also read up on I can dig into if you wish to know more.
P2pool is the only pool I mine now.

i am going to setup my own private node, mostly to learn, but also that way the p2pool software will take care of figuring out what other nodes are out there

can i just follow a litecoin p2pool tutorial and substitute ftc ports and stuff where needed or is there actually different p2pool version/software for FTC?

                  thank you

This pool has had a great run of block finds the last 24 hrs. I have yet to find a better pool than this one even with ltc pools. Less than .1% rejects all day every day.
