Hi all. I’ve seen tons of folk mostly using the 1080s and so on but I’d like to know if there is a superior fact about them, compared to these https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX69789#Continue that I am missing as the card(s) posted at the link to the left, would be my choice over the 1080. 3x the memory and Duo-core seems to outshine, but if most folk (seem) hellbent on the 1080, it would be great to know if I’m missing something before I went ahead with a purchase.

1080’s don’t do very well with NeoScrypt because of GDDR5X. Access latency is too high compared to GDDR5. That Pro Duo is two Polaris GPUs with double memory on the same card. Not any better than two RX580 + much more noise.

Thank you Ghost for the input. If the ProDuo does the work of 2 RX580s even if it does have more noise, would that not still be considered running 38 RX580s on the following board? The board I’m strongly considering purchase is this: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX68521#Continue which can support 19 cards in total. There are three ProDuos I’ve found, 4, 8 and 32GB. I’ve screwed around with the calculator and if the math is correct, a full spread of those Duos will do 3x the work of a full spread of 580s. I thought I saw something regarding these cards not working on the expansions, but haven’t been able to find it again. Before making such an investment, I’d like to get the choices as “correct” as possible.

@clickinorka Older 8Gb Pro Duo cards are Fiji based. Essentially dual R9 Fury X.

Sorry Ghost, I don’t know what that means. And it was my intention of using 19 of the 32GB beasts. (if possible)

@clickinorka You can go for it indeed. Seems expensive though.

Thanks ghost, I think I will. Yes I know it may be expensive, but I’d like to see if it truly does 3x the work of the 580s. The math says it does, but there’s always a variable here or there that can throw things to hell. I’ll post this here and if you find an error with the math, please let me know. I do intend to run for a month solo to see what happens, then add its ungodly power to a pool.

Guy states that the total speed is 1863.518Mh/s. To which I’ve been unable to confirm elsewhere. I would ideally, like to run 19 of these things off the B250. https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX68521 To which there is also a complication, there’s been two videos I found stating that the board basically goes mental if any more than 13 cards are installed. Perhaps that’s been fixed, I don’t know. Waiting on a reply from support for that one. Thanks for being patient with me, I probably don’t know 1% of the stuff I should. Learnin…
